CNC Milling

Prismatic parts, housings, plates and fixtures — including workholding we design and build ourselves.

Milling covers everything that is not round: housings, manifolds, housings with deep pockets, thin-wall plates, fixtures and tooling.

Where a part has features on several faces, we would rather design a fixture and machine it in fewer setups than chase tolerances across five of them. Fixturing is designed and made in-house, which is also why we can hold repeatability on a production run rather than just on the first article.

We machine per your drawing — if a feature is difficult to hold, we say so before quoting, not after.

Materials, equipment and inspection

The practical detail.

Materials for this process

Aluminium alloys, carbon and alloy steels, stainless steel, tool steel, nickel alloys, brass and copper, and engineering plastics such as POM and PEEK.

Equipment and inspection

3-axis and 4-axis vertical machining centres, plus 5-axis for multi-face work. Fixtures are designed and machined in-house. Form and position checked on the CMM.

Every photo on this page was taken at the shop. Customer names and part numbers are never published; the process that made each part is.

Questions

What buyers ask about this process.

What information do you need to quote this?
The drawing, the material, the quantity and the date you need the parts. If a critical feature is unclear, we will ask rather than assume.
Can you work from a sample instead of a drawing?
For simple parts, usually yes. We will measure the sample, send you a drawing for approval, and machine against that.
CNC Milling — what do you need to know from me?
Anything unusual about how the part is used. Function tells us where to put the effort: a worn surface matters more than a cosmetic one, and knowing that changes how we machine it.

Send us a drawing. Get an engineering answer, not a price list.

Tell us the part, the material and the quantity. An engineer reviews your drawing and replies within one working day — usually with a suggestion on how to make it cheaper.
